Abstract

The article reports an intervention within the Oncology department of the San Filippo Neri hospital (SFN) developed by the Complex Operative Unit (UOC) Safety Prevention and Risk Management (SPRM) in collaboration with the Specialization Course in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy SPS.
This paper aims to contribute to the scientific debate on the psychotherapeutic function in the hospital context, a function that can be useful for the development of the organizational context if it intervenes on the competence to coexist instead of replicating the medical model of diagnosis or that of psycho-pathology that corrects deficits. The variability of oncological disease, the fallibility and the toxicity of the therapies can undermine the hospital culture and make the relationship between health workers, patients and family members problematic. The psychological intervention has the aim of supporting this relationship and treating relationship problems that can affect the objectives of the hospital organ-ization.
